Michael Meischein began his studies at the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum in the winter semester of 2012. The topic of the bachelor thesis was "Construction and Commissioning of a qPlus Sensor for the Atomic Force Microscope" which was carried out in the Surface Physics group of Prof. Dr. med. Ulrich Köhler was carried out at the Institute for Experimental Physics IV. For the master thesis titled "Synthesis and in situ investigation of the morphology of Cu nanoparticles via scanning tunneling microscopy" he moved to the group of Prof. Dr. med. Beatriz Roldan Cuenya at the same institute. Parallel to the student activities he worked as a student assistant among other things as a group leader and internship supervisor in the faculty's teaching and as director of the project "Radioactivity is everywhere" of the Alfried Krupp student lab of the Ruhr-Universität. For his dissertation, Mr. Meischein moved to the working group "Materials Discovery and Interfaces" of Prof. Dr. med. Alfred Ludwig and works in the DFG research project "Exploring Multinary Nanoparticles by Combinatorial Sputtering Into Ionic Liquids and Advanced Transmission Electron Microscopy". After completing his PhD in December 2021, Mr. Meischein took over a project to investigate nanoscale high entropy alloys using atomic probe tomography. In addition, he continues to work in the research area "sputtered nanoparticles in ionic liquids".
