Dr. Aurelija Mockute schloss 2007 ihr Studium der Physik an der Universität Vilnius, Litauen, mit einem Bachelor-Abschluss ab. 2008 erwarb sie einen Master-Abschluss in Materialwissenschaften und Nanotechnologie an der Universität Linköping, Schweden, wo sie 2014 auch in Materialwissenschaften, insbesondere Dünnschichtphysik, mit der Dissertation "Synthesis and Characterization of New MAX Phase Alloys" promovierte. Danach arbeitete sie als Postdoc am Oak Ridge National Laboratory, USA, wo sie magnetische MAX-Phasen mit Neutronenstreuungstechniken untersuchte. Dr. Mockute trat im August 2019 dem Lehrstuhl für Materialforschung und Grenzflächen bei. Ihr Forschungsschwerpunkt liegt auf der kombinatorischen Synthese neuartiger nanolaminierter Phasen.
