Xiao Wang studied Inorganic nonmetallic materials engineering at the Qingdao University of Science & Technology from 2007 to 2011 and received a Bachelor of Engineering degree. He subsequently joined Prof. Yunzhen Cao’s group at the Shanghai Institute of Ceramics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (SICCAS) as a master candidate. His master thesis was focused on the deposition of VO2 thin film using reactive sputtering and design and fabrication of VO2-based multilayer structure for tunable emittance. He received his Master of Engineering degree in Materials Science in 2015. In 2016, he joined Prof. Ludwig’s group at the Ruhr University Bochum as a PhD candidate, where he will work on VO2-based shape memory actuator as a part of a DFG program.
