Dr. Bin Xiao studied physics at Southwest University in Chongqing, China. He completed his bachelor degree in 2009 with the thesis "Study on Electronic and Magnetic Properties of Half Metallic Heusler Alloy Co2MnSi". Dr. Bin Xiao completed his master studies at the Chinese Academy of Science in Beijing, China. He completed this in 2012 with the thesis "Synthesis, fluorescence and laser properties of a series Cr3+-doped structural disordered crystals". During his studies he was engaged in the growth of single crystals and the determination of crystal structures. After his studies, Dr. Bin Xiao received his doctorate at RWTH Aachen University/Forschungszentrum Jülich with his thesis "The Crystal Chemistry of Novel Thorium and Uranium Compounds with Oxo-Anions from Group VI of Periodic Table" in 2016.
Afterwards Dr. Xiao worked as a postdoc at the Helmholtz Centre Dresden-Rossendorf in Dresden on the project "Structures and Reactivity at the Water/Mineral Interface". Since August 2019 Dr. Xiao is member of the chair MDI. He is engaged in the fabrication and characterization of multinary systems ("High Entropy Alloys") as well as materials informatics..
