Florian Lourens studied mechanical engineering with a specialization in materials and microengineering at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum and graduated with a bachelor's degree in 2019 and a master's degree in 2021. His bachelor's thesis at the Chair of New Materials and Interfaces dealt with the investigation of phase transformation properties of V-Sm-W-O thin film material libraries. As part of his master's thesis, also at the Department of New Materials and Interfaces, he developed a cathode sputtering method for coating microparticles. At the end of 2021, he started a PhD in the group of Prof. Ludwig, investigating phase formation in Li-Mg-Mn-Al-O systems, with a focus on spinel formation, as part of the DFG research project SPP 2315.
